Meet Mike Jones, Customer Service Representative

Mike Jones, a customer service representative based in our Bournemouth office, tells us about his role at LV=.
Mike joined us in September 2022. Mike plays an important role being the first point of contact for new LV= customers across the UK.
What did you do before coming to work for LV=?
Before LV=, I was a team manager in customer service at an outsourcing company working closely with a range of different companies.
What does your day-to-day role look like?
I work in Protection New Business, which means looking after new customers. My day-to-day is a mix of admin and phones helping financial advisers and customers with their queries. I also receive and arrange reports, send terms, and help with completions. All this is supporting customers to get their policy live, so they have the financial cover and protection they need.
What advice would you give someone looking to do a job like yours?
Go for it! It’s easy to look at financial services and think you will never understand it. However, you’re trained to know the ins and outs of the job really well and it doesn’t require much previous experience. In the short time I’ve been here, I’ve been trained in lots of different areas which has allowed me to progress in my role and train others too.
What have you enjoyed most in your role so far?
The team and everyone around me. Having good colleagues around always makes your day. Every day is a learning day and every application you pick up is different to the next so there’s plenty of variety within the role.
What other role within LV= could you see yourself doing?
With my previous experience, I would like to work my way towards becoming a team manager.
For a work meeting, what’s your drink of choice?
Probably one of three things either a coffee, water or Coca-Cola.
Outside work, what do you enjoy doing?
I’m a football fan so probably be watching football.
