As a Junior QA Engineer, you will be contributing to the QA team whilst receiving an on-the-job training programme: your first step in becoming a QA Engineer.
You’ll be learning how to create automated tests, build a working knowledge of performance testing tools and gain an understanding of the importance of code reviews. Your responsibilities will be the life cycle of your tests, from local development environment to CI/CD pipelines, and to document test coverage using Confluence. You’ll manage your own test environments, use version control, and understand its importance to the SDLC.
Writing test for our automation frameworks, you’ll ensure that a high percentage of our tests are automated. You’ll execute automated tests, and report and track bugs until they are resolved. Part of your ongoing evaluation will include assessing tests against acceptance criteria.
Whilst there is a lot of support offered to you, you will commit to your own individual learning plan, consolidating what you learn and practically apply it, ensuring your progress to becoming a QA Engineer.
What are we looking for?
With your background in testing, ideally within a Financial Services environment, you’ll bring a basic knowledge of test automation and the key principles behind it. You’re a logical thinker and a natural problem solver. Your enquiring mind is always curious to why and how things work, and your analytical skills help you to figure it out.
Like many roles at LV=GI, the Junior QA Engineer will liaise with colleagues across the business and with external contacts too, so your ability to develop working relationships easily, your confidence and communication skills will give you an advantage.
Although not essential, your CV should draw attention to any experience with manual testing, degree-level qualifications in Computer Science related subjects, and your understanding of Continuous Delivery and DevOps. Any experience building automated test scripts, working with code, and knowledge of Test Automation Frameworks will give your application the advantage.
We are looking to invest in you and your QA career, so showcase your desire to learn and keep learning throughout your career; taking ownership of your goals and development plan; and where there are gaps in your knowledge, the initiative to learn and find the answers.
What will you be doing?
