About the Role

LV=GI have a fantastic opportunity to join our family of accomplished people in the Corporate Communications team as a Public Affairs Adviser.

The role will be based at the London office working 35 hours a week. You will be required to attend the office a minimum of 2 days a week with flexibility on the remaining 3 days.

The Public Affairs Adviser will be responsible for helping to implement LV= GI’s public affairs strategy to influence relevant UK public policy to help benefit LV= GI’s customers.

You will be supporting the Head of Public Affairs. You will keep internal stakeholders updated with key public policy and Parliamentary activity of interest to the business, and assist with political stakeholder engagement and public affairs campaigns.

You will assist with the drafting of briefing papers and responses to consultations.

About You

You will have previous experience working within a political/ Parliamentary environment, with knowledge of insurance and financial services an advantage.

You will have proficiency and experience in public affairs and knowledge of the workings of the UK Government and Parliament.

You will be comfortable working in a very busy and small public affairs team across a number of different policy areas. You will be able to cope well with pressure, and understand there will be occasions when out of hours work is required.

You will have exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment

You will have excellent written or verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex or technical information in a simple way and when required the ability to Influence and  negotiate  to get the resolution.

You will be able to manage relationships with stakeholders and external organisations.

You will understand wider corporate communications techniques and Commercial awareness, anticipating the broader impact of political and policy developments for the company.

You will have a positive ‘can do’ attitude with the ability to work as part of a team or independently. You will be able to work with different departments and to tight deadlines with complex subject matters


Experience of working in Parliament, a government department or in public affairs

The Details

  • Support the Head of Public Affairs in delivering the public affairs strategy for LV= General Insurance

  • Monitor relevant UK public policy developments and Parliamentary activity of interest to LV= General Insurance and distribute to key internal stakeholders across the business

  • Manage the political stakeholder contact list and assist with the proactive engagement programme to help raise the profile of LV= General Insurance and to increase influence on key policy areas, with a particular focus on areas such as electric vehicles and flooding

  • Assist with the implementation of proactive public affairs campaigns which support LV= General Insurance

  • Help identify and co-ordinate LV=’s responses to Government consultations and Select Committee inquiries

  • Organise and run thought leadership events with external stakeholders

  • Liaise with MPs on constituency issues

  • Support the Head of Public Affairs in producing and distributing briefing papers for MPs and Peers ahead of Parliamentary debates

  • Support the Head of Public Affairs in producing summaries of key Government announcements and papers and share with internal stakeholders across the business

  • Support the Head of Public Affairs  in representing LV= with political stakeholders and at external events
