Two years into his role as a Claims Handler, Claims at LV= GI Bournemouth, we caught up with Matthew to hear all about his time so far, why he loves our culture and what makes his role anything but average.
Working in Claims at LV=GI isn’t what you’d expect
Someone once described our team as the ‘fifth emergency service’. Why? Because when people have an accident, we're the people they call. I always thought this was a good way to look at it. Working in Claims at LV=GI isn’t what you’d expect - it’s not like any other call centre role, it's very modern and forward-thinking. That's why you get people who've been here 16 years - because you're treated like a human. And there's absolutely no micromanagement at all, which is rare in our industry.
I can’t imagine doing a Claims role anywhere else
I was really impressed by the way LV=GI dealt with everything during the pandemic. No one was furloughed, they just said, "It's not your fault you haven't got a laptop, we're still going to pay you." It really reflects the company’s ethos and their commitment to employee wellbeing. In fact, I’ve never worked anywhere that takes employee wellbeing so seriously. It's the only company I've ever known to have mental health first aiders and the fact that I'm treated well is what absolutely secures my loyalty to the business. I can’t imagine doing my role anywhere else.
We're encouraged to be completely ourselves and make our own decisions
That's a really big selling point. There’s also no dress code - I can turn up in shorts and a t-shirt if that’s how I’m comfortable. And the Bournemouth office itself is a great place to work. It’s bustling, it’s busy - there’s always something going on. And we’re all on the same wavelength too. In fact, the people are a huge part of what makes working here so great. Everyone's accessible - if I have any questions I can drop anyone a message and reach out for support. It’s a super collaborative environment to work in.

I'm an Engage rep for Bournemouth AD. Engage is an initiative that encourages engagement within the department, to bring everyone else closer together and create a community.
