Delighted to be giving back to the University and funding research whilst developing the next generation of LV= General Insurance (LV= GI) data scientists, it’s all part of our commitment to advancing our digital remit so we can remain at the forefront of our industry.
Keeping us one step ahead of the competition
From combating fraud to improving our processes, at LV= GI we know that machine learning and artificial intelligence is the future of our industry – that’s why we’re heavily investing in this area. Not only are we growing our successful Data Science function internally, we also launched the LV= General Insurance Digital Transformation Academy to upskill our people so that they can play an integral part in the new digital world of insurance. Because we know that if we want to truly embrace all-things-digital and continue to create great products and services for our customers, then we need to nurture and retain the brightest minds in digital science.
Proudly partnering with University of Bristol
The latest development in the LV= GI Transformation Academy? Joining forces with the University of Bristol to create an innovative data science hub. Collaborating with the University’s social scientists, our team will work to better understand the societal challenges and opportunities of digital technologies. Sharing knowledge, skills and opportunities to make advancements in the data science field, the hub will explore how the insurance industry, and our business, can benefit from machine learning and artificial intelligence. The possibilities are huge – and we can’t wait to see what comes from it.
Our Chief Executive, Steve Treloar said: “As an industry, it’s absolutely crucial that we recognise the dramatic leaps that technology has made in the past few years, and look at how we can harness that for the ultimate benefit of our customers. We are confident that this tie-up with the University of Bristol will be hugely beneficial for both parties”.

Not only will LV= GI employees be delivering lectures and supervising student projects, we’ll also be supporting young data scientists as a business by offering internships to students – and working with the University to co-design an MSc programme, too.
