Jon Mansley talks about Digital Transformation…and more!

We caught up with Jon Mansley and asked him how the team, the business and his role has evolved in the last 6 months.

How has the team evolved in the last 6 months?

The team has become bigger! We’ve hired new people with desirable skills and promoted people from within LV= too, to help us become a stronger and more dynamic Sales and Marketing function. In the last 6 months we’ve promoted three of our team members to head up their individual departments: Joanna Lidgey is now Head of Performance Marketing, Sarah Chastney is now Head of Brand and Customer Marketing, and Charlotte Rae is now our Head of Customer Experience. It’s great to promote from within LV= and reflects the business and team culture around developing, retaining and nurturing great talent.

What’s the team’s mission?

Where are we heading? The team’s mission is to make LV= General Insurance a top three player in the UK insurance market, while maintaining our position as the best UK insurance brand. We’re really pushing forward with embracing and developing new technologies and channels, and we’re in the middle of a huge transformation to move certain elements of paid media in-house. This will enable us to work with more agility and have greater control of our key trading channels.

Tell us about the long-term career opportunities within the team.

I think sales and marketing is an area that people look to have a long career in. Most people in the team have spent the majority of their careers in marketing and have developed and deepened their knowledge over time, to enable them to push on with successful careers. Marketing is constantly changing in terms of technology and how customers interact with new tech, so LV= has to evolve to keep up with our customer’s ever-changing needs. Social channels are becoming increasingly important, and the skills and activities people gain in their everyday life are now hugely significant in the armoury of a modern marketing professional.

If you were to describe a day of the team’s work in 3 words, it’d be…

Fun, fast and rewarding.

What are the most sought-after skills within the team?

Attitude, attitude and most importantly… attitude.

The greatest achievement in the last 12 months?

This is not fair! So much has been done over the last year but I’d say the work we’ve done on accessibility. Accessibility is at the heart of all great customer experience and we’ve done everything we can to make our site as accessible as it can be. If something feels easy and you’re able to interact with confidence, you’re more likely to use and buy those services. In a digital age, accessibility has to be at the forefront of our minds.

What makes our team work well is…

A common purpose, mutual respect and hard work.

The golden nugget piece of advice to a new team member would be…

Ask questions and relax.
