Taking Million Makers to the next level

How would you raise £10,000 in six months? That’s the challenge a team of LV= GI apprentices are embracing as they take part in this years’ Million Makers initiative.

Opening up opportunities for young people

Over the last 43 years, The Prince’s Trust has helped transform the futures of nearly 1 million young people by empowering them to turn their lives around. How? By providing them with the support and opportunities they need to get into jobs, education and training. To carry out their amazing work, the charity relies on volunteers and fundraising - and one way The Prince’s Trust raise money is through their Million Makers scheme.

An entrepreneurial challenge

Million Makers is an annual fundraising competition run by The Prince’s Trust. It’s a challenge where teams from companies across the country compete to raise as much money as they can over a six month period. In the style of Dragons’ Den, teams have to come up with a business plan which details how they’re going to raise funds, and then pitch that plan to a panel. Successful teams are given £1,500 seed money to turn into a minimum of £10,000 by the end of the year - with all profits going to The Prince’s Trust.

Fundraising fun

We’re delighted that 15 digital apprentices from LV= GI are taking part in The Prince’s Trust Million Makers initiative this year as team ‘Next Level’. Upping the stakes of the competition, the team have decided to take the £10,000 minimum target to the next level - giving themselves the challenge of raising at least £30,000 for The Prince’s Trust before December 31st 2019.

From selling doughnuts to arranging treasure hunts, the team has organised a number of events so far and there are plenty more planned, too - including a supplier golf day and an ongoing ‘moment makers’ photoshoot for staff and family members.

An incredible experience for everyone involved

Not only will proceeds help improve the lives of young people in the UK, this initiative has really galvanised the LV= GI apprentices taking part:

“The support LV= GI has given us in this project has been amazing. The main board let us practice our pitch on them and throughout the fundraising period we’ve had invaluable advice on topics we never envisaged we would need, such as tax advice and graphic design.”  - Louise Pillinger, GI Business Analyst

Almost half way through their fundraising journey now, the team are confident they’re going to smash their target. If you want to help them along the way, you can donate here. Good luck, team Next Level!
