Where energy and support shapes a happier, healthier workforce
I’ve worked at LV= GI for 21 years now, so I’m definitely part of the furniture! My career journey so far has certainly been varied. I’ve had the opportunity to go and do lots of different things and work with lots of different people, which has kept me engaged and enthusiastic. And it's that people element that I really love.
We’re committed to building a really strong leadership team where our people fully trust and believe in us. So they feel much more inspired to be open, honest, and engaged as well. I oversee 10 team leaders at the moment, who all manage their own teams. My day-to-day job is to make sure that, from a customer offering perspective, we are performing within our targets and objectives.
But most importantly, my role’s about helping to create an environment where people feel safe, secure, and able to come up with different ideas and suggestions for continuous improvement. We strive to foster a culture where every individual feels like they have a voice, like they can add value, and that they're being listened to. And that's really where I support my team leaders to ensure that they're having the right conversations and concentrating on what's important and therefore what matters to the customer. Seeing how engaged and how spirited my colleagues are keeps me going and keeps me wanting to drive forwards, and do better. Because I know I will only ever be as successful as the people I have working around me, simple as that.
LV= GI is an incredibly inclusive company. We recognise and accept everyone’s diverse beliefs and faiths here. And there’s always support if you need it. I recently needed some time away from work due to suffering with PTSD and LV= GI were absolutely brilliant. They supported me, provided counselling, and gave me the time to really build myself back up when I did come back to work. I don’t know many other companies that would have given me the time I needed to get my life back in order. We really do believe in and support our people here, because we want the right people - not just people to fill our jobs.
My advice to anyone wanting to join LV= GI? Be authentic. Show us you. We want to understand who you are as an individual, what’s important to you, and how you’ve engaged with customers in whatever facet of work you’ve done previously. To anyone thinking of applying, I'd say absolutely get yourself into LV= GI because the possibilities really are endless and the world is your oyster here.
