Our approach to creating social impact
We have a long history of supporting our members and communities. As a mutual since 1843, it’s how we began; and it remains central to how we do business today.
LV= Together defines our approach to social impact, combining our collaborations and partnerships and creating a lasting legacy. We also fundraise, volunteer and make corporate donations.
Our approach has three key areas:

Our colleagues get involved and make an impact through our diversity, equity, inclusion and wellbeing networks and opportunities arising from our partnerships. Through fundraising and volunteering, they support causes close to their hearts as well as contributing to our wider activities. - LV= Together with Communities
We aim to have a positive and lasting impact in our communities through our charity support, sponsorships and partnerships. As a mutual, we take a long view of the future for our members. This drives us to support causes that seek to make lasting change. - LV= Together with Society
We’re adding to the national conversation through research, thought leadership and campaigns. We are determined to drive change in society.
Social impact through social mobility
Our purpose is to help people live financially confident lives - increasing opportunities for all young people, regardless of background, is an important part of that. At LV=, we want people to flourish from all walks of life.

Through our partnerships and activities, we’re committed to increasing social mobility at work, in our communities and across society in three ways.

Our sponsorships and partnerships that support social mobility and our communities
The King’s Trust break down barriers and open doors for young people, giving them opportunities to thrive.
Through our partnership, our colleagues will have the opportunity to provide practical support for young people in our local communities through mentoring and job support.

The Social Mobility Foundation supports young people who face barriers in education and work because of their socio-economic background. As well as this, the charity has an advocacy and campaign focus.
We’ve partnered with the Social Mobility Foundation to join the national conversation on social mobility. Together, we’ve published research into barriers to education and work that young people face.
The UnHeard Voices research reveals the views of young people on critical issues relating to careers and employment. The results will help shape the conversation about how to remove these barriers and create a more inclusive and supportive system for young people in the future. We co-hosted a panel discussion at the 2025 Labour Party Conference to explore how young people can be supported to access education and career opportunities. Read our article for more information.

Progress Together is a membership body that launched in 2022 as part of a government commissioned taskforce. They represent a third of the financial services workforce to support socio-economic diversity at senior levels. Its mission is to support socio-economic diversity and improve social mobility at work.
We’re proud to be a member of Progress Together. Through membership, we’ll receive support as we embark on our own social mobility journey.

We’re delighted to support the Sutton Trust through our Pennies for Charity initiative – a nationwide scheme administered by Microhive that sees our colleagues donate the odd pennies from their net salary each month to charity.
We’re delighted to be an official partner of Trussell, contributing to its ‘Help through hardship helpline’ and our local food banks. The helpline supports people who are struggling to afford essentials like food, heating and toiletries and aims to understand individuals’ circumstances so they can receive the support they need. For the 2025 summer season, we’re sponsoring LV= KidZone – a beach safety scheme that operates in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area local to our Westbourne office. The Kidzone initiative seeks to protect and reunite lost children and vulnerable adults with their families.
In 2025, we sponsored a mermaid tail sculpture as part of the Great Tail Trail; an outdoor exhibition on display across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, in support of Julia’s House. We were also headline sponsor for its Learner Programme. Read more about the Great Tail Trail.
In 2024, we supported children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities by sponsoring a learning kitchen for Diverse Abilities in their new specialist venue, The Treehouse.
Charity support
We’re dedicated to adding value to communities and charities
Pennies for Charity
Our Pennies for Charity initiative supports a nationwide scheme administered by Microhive. We take the odd pennies in our colleague’s net salary and send these to a chosen charity each month.
We’re proud to hold a Platinum Award in recognition for the high number of LV= colleagues that contribute.
Fundraising
With the help of our colleagues, we support a range of charities through our fundraising events
From fundraising challenges to bake sales, we hold events throughout the year to raise money.
We’re delighted that through our fundraising challenges alone, our colleagues have raised over £120,000 for charity since 2022.
Reinforcing our belief that fostering a diverse and inclusive culture is key to the successful delivery of our LV= strategy, we have five diversity, equity, inclusion and wellbeing networks. Our networks fundraise for charities linked to their awareness activities and are supported through our corporate giving programme.
Volunteering
We’re passionate about encouraging our colleagues to volunteer
Through our ‘Time off to Volunteer’ policy, colleagues can take up to two days each year to do something for their local community. Teams across LV= continue to make use of this to take part in a variety of activity and in addition, they also donate their time to support our initiatives and events.
