10 quick questions with Customer Claims Handler, Levi Nyathi

We sat down with Customer Claims Handler, Levi Nyathi, to hear all about his role, why he loves working here, and how LV= General Insurance (LV= GI) is helping him plan for the future.

1. What does your role as a Customer Claims Handler involve?  

“I take calls from LV= GI’s motor customers who want to make a claim or need further assistance. Whether they need to report an incident or get their vehicle repaired, I’m here to help them. We’re empowered to have great conversations and help people as much as we can. It's always quality over quantity at LV= GI.”

2. How have you developed since joining LV= GI?

“When I started, I knew absolutely nothing about cars or car insurance – now I know loads! I’ve also developed my communication, team working and problem solving skills which makes me feel really accomplished.”

3. Are you supported to grow and progress in your role?

“Yes, there’s a lot of ongoing training and we’re encouraged to constantly develop new skills. Helping our teammates helps us learn and grow in our roles too.”

4. What are your colleagues like?

“My team’s the best. I couldn't imagine being in any other team. They're the most supportive group of people.”

5. What’s the most rewarding part of your role?

“My proudest moments are when I can really help people. Getting into incidents or accidents can be very worrisome. So I find it satisfying when I’m able to make the situation easier for our customers.”

6. What’s the culture like at LV= GI?

“We’re all encouraged to be ourselves. If you can't be yourself, you can't give customers your best. There are plenty of support groups across the business, and we all do DE&I training too. We're also welcome to share our ideas – they’ll never get shut down.”

7. Are you given flexibility in your role?

“My plan is to move into the medical field in the future. So I've recently changed to part-time hours at LV= GI, which gives me time to do my pre-medical course. My manager was able to sort this out for me in just one week which made me feel really valued and happy.”

8. What do you think makes a great LV= GI person?

“You have to be yourself and you've got to be honest. If you make a mistake or if you've got a problem, you need to reach out so you can get the support that you need.”

9. Would you recommend working at LV= GI?

“Absolutely. I'm genuinely proud to be part of LV= GI. It's a very good place to work with good people. Everyone here is committed to what they do and we all like supporting each other.”

10. What are three words you’d use to sum up working at LV= GI?

“Inclusive. Supportive. Flexible.”
