Meet Som Finny, Senior Auditor

Som Finny, a senior auditor based in our Bournemouth office, tells us about her role at LV=.
Since joining LV= in April this year, Som has quickly acclimatised to her role as a senior auditor. Having previously worked as a senior auditor at a major investment bank for 19 years, she brings a wealth of experience.
What does your day-to-day role look like?
Every day could be very different in my role, depending on the audit we are working on. It could be a day full of preparation, information gathering and reviewing. On other days, I will have multiple meetings with stakeholders to discuss and present our audit findings.
What advice would you give someone looking to do a job like yours?
Communication is key. Being effective in both verbal and written communication is a great asset to have in a role like mine. Attention to detail and patience are also important.
What have you enjoyed most in your role so far?
Working with my colleagues is a collaborative and engaging experience. It is incredibly satisfying to meet and interact with various stakeholders across the audit process and see how our work supports the wider business. I feel a great sense of satisfaction when the reports are sent out knowing that we have added value to the business and helped to improve its overall safety and performance.
What other role within LV= could you see yourself doing?
I am new to the Internal Audit team but that said I could possibly see myself in Compliance or Risk in the future.
For a work meeting, what’s your drink of choice?
I’d stick to fruit juice, mainly mango juice…if they have it on offer.
Outside work, what do you enjoy doing?
I love spending time with my family, especially my husband and two children. We're big fans of outdoor activities, going for long walks.
