Role Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Broker Risk, Regulatory and Business Standards to join our family of talented people.

The Head of Broker Risk, Regulatory and Business Standards has overall responsibility for the leadership and management of the Risk, Compliance, Audit and Product Governance functions within the Broker Business Function.

The Head of Broker Risk, Regulatory and Business Standards will Work closely with the Broker Senior Leadership Team, 1st Line Regulatory Standards, 2nd Line Risk and Compliance functions and 3rd Line Internal Audit.

Your focus:

Work closely with the Broker Leadership Team, Internal Audit and Risk and Compliance to develop and implement strategies and operating plans to ensure that the Broker Business Function fully meets its governance and regulatory responsibilities in respect of risk, compliance, audit and product governance.

Ensure effective governance structures, risk management and conduct processes and outcomes are embedded and delivered across the business function.

Responsible for leadership of all risk management and conduct to ensure the ownership of risk is fully embedded and can be evidenced:

Adherence to Group risk policies and practices.

The appropriate monitoring and management of risks (both operational and financial) and that all necessary records are maintained.

Manage and oversee the risk until all actions are completed satisfactorily and in a timely manner.

Identification of gaps in existing risk controls and development of solutions with all Broker business areas.

Identification of new and emerging risks.

Management and reporting of all Broker risk events in accordance with Allianz standards and functional rules, ensuring that appropriate risk prevention controls are implemented, and risk systems & logs are updated.

Complete risk reporting in a timely and efficient manner.

Attend and participate in relevant committees and forums representing the broker business function as appropriate.

Develop and submit documentary evidence and participate in relevant oversight forums.

Ensure that there is a structured and regular assurance programme in place in respect of key business activities within the Broker team. Manage all Broker Audit meetings to maintain a record of all audits undertaken, report results to the Broker Leadership Team.

Work closely with Internal Audit to facilitate all audit visits, agree outcomes of all audit reports and work with business areas to ensure that all audit actions and requirements are implemented within the agreed timescales.

Ensure that the Broker business area complies with all the regulatory requirements, principally but not limited to the FCA and PRA. Work with business areas to record, manage and resolve all breaches and issues identified. Working closely with the Underwriting and Distribution function oversee adherence to product governance to we meet our regulatory and business standards responsibilities.

Ensure that we comply with all the regulatory requirements of the FCA in respect of Complaints management and prevention. Ensure there is an effective complaints management procedure through implementation of effective processes, staff training, root cause analysis, monthly audits and reporting to the Broker Leadership Team.

Ensure that we have appropriate oversight of the distribution chain, including the audit of broker activities in accordance with relevant policies, standards and functional rules that apply.

About you

To be successful for the role you will have experience in a senior management role within the insurance and/or financial services industries in one of the following areas:

  • Underwriting
  • Operations
  • Risk & Compliance
  • Experience and understanding of Regulation, Compliance, Complaints Management, Audit, Risk and Product Governance.
  • Experience implementing monitoring, control & performance management procedures in an operational and/or regulatory environment.
  • Ability to work without supervision and be self-motivated in a pro-active manner seeing tasks through to resolution.
  • Good stakeholder management and relationship building skills including the ability to work with colleagues at all levels and representatives from external bodies such as brokers or the FCA.
  • Ability to develop strategies and operational plans.
  • Good planning and organisational and attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to learn and keep abreast of new developments in the regulatory environment.

The role can be based in one of our offices Brentwood, Croydon or London

Our office with flex model means that you will have the opportunity to work from home for up to 3 days per week and come into our office for 2 days – longer if you prefer to work in an office. This will be discussed at interview stage.
